You already have a language with clear vowels and a strong rhythm. Dutch asks for different ones. We use Spanish as the map, then deliberately practice the Dutch sounds and word order that your first language will not hand you automatically.

- Everyday Dutch for introductions, shops, transport, work, and social plans.
- The sounds Spanish does not prepare you for: g, ch, ui, eu, and long versus short vowels.
- Sentence patterns and word order, so you can build your own Dutch rather than translate word for word.
For Spanish speakers who freeze at the g
If you can read Dutch but the pronunciation stops you, that is a normal place to begin. We slow the difficult sounds down, practice them in sentences you would say, and put them back into conversation before they become a separate exercise.
The bridge: big vocabulary, different music
Spanish and Dutch share Latin-root vocabulary, often through different historical routes. The bigger shift is musical: vowel length, consonant clusters, and the very Dutch habit of putting the verb somewhere your Spanish ear does not expect. We work on both. Cognates make the meaning easier; rhythm and order make the speaking possible.
Both go back to Latin schola, itself borrowed from Greek. The spelling is different; the root is not.
